7. How do I know when and where they are going to burn?
Fire Managers create a map of prescribed burns on a yearly basis. Locations and dates are planned with some flexibility for ignition depending on weather and vegetation conditions. These maps are available on the forest web site.
The Prescott National Forest web site lists news releases for upcoming prescribed burns and maps of the areas. See box on right under “INDEX” for this type of information.
The Fire Information Line (928-777-5799) provides accurate and updated information to the public on dates and locations of prescribed burns so people can be prepared and or adjust to the possible effects of smoke.
